Some furniture in your home can have a particular sentimental value than the other and maybe be more dated than they, small observations in the use, placement, and a simple and regular maintenance it can promote the conservation of the state.

Among the first observations, to avoid the wooden furniture will be damaged, avoid putting them near sources of heat or damp walls. With regard to the drawers even once a year, should be extracted, treated on the sides and edges with sandpaper, generally the end, it's okay.

If the inside of the drawers of old furniture is rough, the wood could be treated with coarse sandpaper and then with fine grit sandpaper.

A work up would be to line the drawer, it could be used particularly resistant paper or a self adhesive coating (the latter would be a simpler solution and rapid). Any shelves and shelves made of wood and present in the home can be turned, once a year, maybe at the abovementioned maintenance of furniture, this is to prevent them from bending due to their own weight.

If shelves and shelves have already curved, may be slightly wet, turn around for a few hours and subjected to the action of a proper weight.

A greater commitment of a careful maintenance, furniture and everything that is made ??from wood in your house, it can also remove dents or damage to furniture, shelves, shelves and the like in any small domestic accidents. In the simplest cases dented parts can be filled with wood pulp or beeswax, of course appropriate colors. Leave to dry for a few hours and possibly in a ventilated, treated surfaces must be coated with fine sand paper, so they can be dusted and polished.

Particular is the case of dents located in correspondence of veneers, in this case, can be stretched a damp cloth (width and thickness appropriate) on the area to be treated. On the cloth can then be passed a hot iron to produce dilation of the fibers which tend thus to fill the dent same course.

Much attention requires the use of the hot iron, it keeps moving to prevent scalding or burning of treated wood.

With the latter still warm and without removing the cloth, previously mentioned, the wood shall be subjected to the force on the veneer rearranged. This is to give compactness to the work and avoid chipping of wood and later, due to thermal stress suffered by the glue in any layers of wood treated and immediately next.

Burns wood

Other problems typical of timber present in various forms in the house are, the scratches burns and in some cases also of the bubbles. In the case of burning mild and superficial, it can be treated lightly with a nail file, among the most delicate and easily available there are those for nails of paper. If the burn is deep, can be used with such delicacy, a cutter, which, however, will leave a small furrow.

The latter may be filled with wood pulp or beeswax color more appropriate. After drying very well, even for a few days, the treated surfaces can be coated with fine sandpaper and then be polished.

Scratches the timber

If the scratches are shallow, may be treated with specific markers and rubbed with shoe polish and then be polished with special products.

In the case of deep scratches, in a similar manner to that described above can be filled with pulp or with beeswax colors more appropriate.

After the drying step, the treated surface may be polished. Particular attention requires the leveling surface in correspondence of the scratch or scratches, they can perform with the edge of resistant cardboard.

Bubbles of wood

The bubble, the wood can be covered with a cloth of the appropriate thickness and wet. In a similar way as described above, also an iron board, not excessively hot, may be used to counteract the bubble. If the latter is riassorbisse, will have to be engraved on one side with a fine cut.

The latter will allow with a syringe, to insert in the bubble a bit of glue. Pressing firmly on the bubble, it will adhere to the surface and the excess glue must be removed. The cut is already made, will be compensated with a piece of gummed paper and subjected to the action of a weight for at least one day.
