Project for a bath 150x220 cm

I would like to bring to a post appeared recently in our forum section Designing:

Hello!!
I am looking for somebody who could kindly help me out for the arrangement of my bathroom?
The bathroom is small: 148x220 cm. Discharges and the hydraulic system have to be redone.
I would like to have:
- Sink (if possible with a base furniture of at least 80 cm wide);
- Shower (preferably a semicircular 80x100, because it seems that a shower of 70x90, you can not even turn over and hang on a wall unit for the shower gel);
- Shower/ bidet, with mixer (a normal bidet);
- Towel heater.
For the floor we have already chosen the rectified porcelain stoneware with wood effect.

The indications of origin and the intentions of our user are clear. But I have the impression that he has forgotten to indicate in the list the toilet, that I would still consider included in the list, given the need of the shower/ bidet.

The request is accompanied by the plan, that I redesigned updating it with some useful details.

On the side I also reported the overall dimensions of the required elements. This is to remind you that our user is right to say that the environment is small. Added to this are the difficulties given the location and characteristics of the door and window.

The drawing that we have received doesn't show the position of the drain, but we try anyway to make assumptions. In general the drain column is placed in correspondence of a perimeter wall, therefore, I would consider it likely to imagine on the side of the bathroom where is the window. So, I would position the toilet in the vicinity of this wall.

Another binding element is the shower, which is required to be semicircular, size 80x100 cm. I think that the most suitable position for the shower is in the upper left of our design and consequently will be placed the basin. The bathroom will therefore be as follows:

150x220 cm bathroom: sink

About the sink I would like to make some comments on the depth of the support surface (here I drew it of 40 cm). Considering that the short side of the bathroom is 148 cm (2 cm less if you intend to tile the walls) and the door is 75 cm wide (plus 10 cm per side corresponding average pack size of the frame), the remaining space for the depth of the wash basin is 51 cm. In the selection of both the basin and of the support surface I have to take account of this depth, but not only, because it is necessary to carefully evaluate also the overall dimensions of the door opening and the shape of the shower.

In the market there are interesting solutions, which are called console and that incorporate in a single element sink and shelf. These solutions can facilitate us in choosing the sink because it is sufficient to check that the width and depth of the console is compatible with the measures available.

I show you an example of a console by Hatria (Model Area). The measures are 106 cm wide and 45 cm deep, that could work in our bathroom.

Hatria: lavandino modello Area
Or there's this other model, Living city by Laufen. Even here the measurements verified: 100 cm wide and 46 deep.

Laufen: Living model city
Given that our user speaks of a base piece of furniture for the sink, I want to point out that the majority of the producers has for every model of the console also the relevant cabinet.

150x220 cm bathroom: shower bidet and towel heater

In the design of the project I have also reported the other items requested by the user, such as the shower/ bidet next to the toilet and the towel heater. In general, the latter element is placed very close to the shower to be able to take the towel when you are still inside the shower cubicle. In the present case there is no space available in the vicinity of the shower and then the towel heater should be positioned necessarily elsewhere. Given the small size of the bathroom, it is an acceptable distance, also, from the point of view of efficiency of the heating, the position of the towel on the peripheral wall by the window is the most appropriate.

Bathroom 150x220 cm: niche window

I could not help but notice the window niche 22 cm deep, and I decided to use the space under the window imagining a cabinet container custom made. You can create it with shelving units, or closed. If you decide to make it with doors, avoid the double doors, which would interfere with the toilet, better opt for another way, such as sliding doors.

To complete the project, I invite to read an article published some time ago, concerning the lighting of the mirror in the bathroom.
