The lampshades, with their different shapes and colors, give personality and character to the lamps determining their style and, at the same time, they represent a piece of furniture that can give beauty to the room.

Lampshades characteristic

The lampshades are the upper part of the lamps and mainly serve to cover and screen the light source of the lamp . Since this is also a piece of furniture widely spread and used, the lampshades have gained more and more importance from a certain aesthetic point of view, and you can find them in an endless number of materials, shapes and colors. Regarding the materials, those that are mostly used are mainly glass, plastic, parchment, straw and various types of fabric, such as silk, chiffon and linen.

Each material gives a different look to the entire lamp shade and thus, determining the style. A lampshade made of silk, for example, it definitely fits to a classic and elegant style of furniture or, if made of chiffon, to an room with a rustic flavor. Always in the case of fabric, also its processing determines the character of the lampshade.

A processing with folds or pleats is well suited for refined and very careful attention to detail, while a banded shade, thanks to its simple and straightforward aspect can also be entered in a purely modern style context. A lampshade made of plastic, however, it is preferable to rooms furnished in modern style, and especially for bathrooms or kitchens. Even the shape of the shade is very important to determine the style.

Circular or cone shaped lampshades fit very welll in classic rooms, while lampshades with an unusual design are definitely better suited to a modern furnishing style. Illuminal, a company from Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence, produces a wide range of lampshades with patterns and processes of all kinds, pleated blinds, pleated or wrapped and implemented either in different types of fabric in other materials such as silver and pvc.

Moreover, the materials used are Italian, completely fireproof and processed with a anti-wear and an anti-yellowing treatement.

The lampshades in glass deserve a space on their own. This material goes well with classic and elegant furnishing, especially in the case of Tiffany-style lamps. These lampshades made in cathedral style and made of small pieces of colored glass joined together, create the typical artistic glass.
Paralumi Tiffany Argenteria Sacchi
The Tiffany lampshades are recommended for both contexts with extremely elegant furnishing and to break up a modern style, thus giving a touch of originality to the room. Argenteria Sacchi was among the first companies to offer more than two decades ago, Tiffany-style lamps.

Made with silver bases, these lamps are real pieces of jewellery, thanks to the very accurate workmanship and a special attention to the proportions and harmony of forms.

Cleaning lampshades

The lampshade is a very delicate object because it is made, in most cases, with materials that can easily deteriorate. For this reason, even the normal cleaning operations are carried out with great care not to damage its surface and both the products to use and the procedures to be adopted, depend on the material to be cleaned.
In the case of cloth, for example, it is advisable not to wash, but to remove the dust using a brush or a roller adhesive to beaccurately passed on the surface.

The cleaning with brush has to be performed frequently, at least once a week, to prevent dust from accumulating and creating spots on the lampshade.
Alternatively, the cloth surfaces can be cleaned with the vacuum cleaner, using the appropriate nozzle.
If the lampshades are made in parchment or straw, you can simply dust them, while in the case of plastic or glass, you can make a simple cleaning with water and mild soap.
