What is the perforated metal sheet


The perforated metal sheet is a very thin sheet of metal, on its surface there are a series of holes arranged in a repetitive pattern, which can be of different types: step equal to 60°, 45° etc.

One can create panels of different sizes, drilled by a machine according to a constant pitch set at the time of production.

The holes are the most common round, square, oblong and hexagonal, but appropriately shaping the system punch matrix is also possible to obtain different shapes and original.

The perforated sheet, in fact, is not only used for the purpose technical but can be employed as a decorative element to realize real items of furniture or even separator panels and protection.

The direction of the holes can be of three types: round hole in quincunx shape; round hole straight and round hole diagonally.
Also the finishing of the edge of the panel can be of different types: there is the panel with the initial jump that can be simple or double, with and without corner angle. The panels may also not have the edge on the long side or the short one.


Use of perforated sheet in furniture


The perforated panels industrially produced may have different dimensions, so that they can be assembled to create real furnishing elements.

This is the case of the line of seats Caballito Blanco produced by MEVACO.
These seats are made of expanded metal diamond shape with size 43x10x2,5x2, with coatings in naturally tanned leather, wool fabrics made on handlooms and fleeces of sheep processed in an environmentally friendly way.

Creator of this line of these pieces of furniture is the artist Oscar Mask, who with these special seats, wants to search a perfect marriage between the cold metal of the structure made of perforated sheet and the natural finish in leather.

The line includes seats in three different sizes and heights that have multiple functions; in fact, they can be used as stools, side tables, footrests and magazine racks, but also as a modern version of a rocking horse.

The Company MEVACO produces panels of perforated sheet both for external and internal use.

The panel shading, for outdoor use, comes in solutions that use warm colors like yellow, red and orange.
