The design of chairs and armchairs with modern features, including the latest trends, sinuous shapes wrapped around themselves, declined in shades of bright fashion colors. The armchairs that we present in this article are a bright example of it.

Examples of sinuous design armchairs

Tonon Italia: Twist Twist is a seat by Tonon Italian designed by Stefan Heiliger, a Berliner designer who, in the sixties and seventies has worked with Mercedes Benz and is now a professor at the University of Offenbach.
The Twist chair, which was presented at the Salone del Mobile 2010, brings together the strength of a sculpture in the form of a strip of colored cloth wrapped around itself, creating a dynamic and modern combining seat and back into one sinuous signal.

The seat shell is made of a single piece of fire retardant polyurethane foam, mounted on a supporting frame in high strength steel, which rests on a metal base polished chrome.
There are extensive customization options thanks to the availability of a large number of fabric and leather upholstery.

Varier: Peel Blanketing is also the shape of Peel chair, designed by Olav Eldøy for Varier, inspired by the form and function of the orange peel that is detached from the fruit, with the aim of protecting, wrap and relax the body.
In fact, the Peel chair is elegant and comfortable because, like all products, is designed to offer a high level of comfort.

The chair is flexible, to accommodate the movements of the body, in fact a dual system of adjustability allows fluent movements between the positions to offer total relaxation.
Is adjusted according to body weight and responds to every movement of the load, allowing you to change position with a simple movement of the body.
Thanks to a fixed angle between seat and back, the chair Peel fails to adequately support the weight regardless of the sitting position. You can lie down without slipping forwards or backwards, because the movement is in the tilting mechanism, not between the seat and backrest.

The elegant footrest is designed to give even more comfort, but it can also be used as a coffee table.
The headrest is adjustable both horizontally and vertically, to allow you to take the right position to read, sleep, watch tv, etc..
Peel has the ability to rotate 360° and three different seating positions or relaxation.

The chair is available in symmetrical versions, so the couple is particularly nice and suitable for hotel lobbies, as well as private homes.

Azucena: Battibius A double continuous ribbon of iron, which folds back on itself to follow the contour of the seat and flexes to follow the movement of the body: this is the structure that forms the anatomical chassis Battibius of the chair, designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni for Azucena in 1959 and now recreated in the catalog.
This structure hold up two large pillows, covered with fabrics Azucena, which make it a more comfortable armchair, a real piece of furniture timeless and adaptable to any context, not necessarily of residential character.

The name given to the chair is of scientific derivation and indicates the primordial matter that was believed to be the link between the inorganic and the organic origin of life.
As a testimony of the cultural and multidisciplinary interests of the architect who designed it.

Porro: Nouvelle VagueWe find the same delicate and sinuous lines in the chaise longue Nouvelle Vague of Leek which was staged at the prestigious Cooper-Hewitt National Museum of Design in New York until the 7th of September 2009.

The occasion was triggered by the Fashioning Felt exhibition, organized by Susan Brown to celebrate the new uses of felt, an ancient and versatile material.
The exhibition started from the historical and traditional uses of the material to get to the latest innovations that have led to its use in the fields of fashion, architecture and interior design.

In particular, for the exhibition has been selected the special version of the chaise longue Nouvelle Vague, originally designed by Christophe Pillet, made with a coating of thick gray felt. The version is part of Material House, a collection designed in 2007 by Piero Lissoni, who has customized thourgh hand-made applications, the most representative pieces of the Porro catalog.

The shape of the seat is that of an S, absolutely essential. It's made by rotational molding of thermoplastic material, in matt colors carried in bulk or in glossy lacquers, available in different colors.

The session is completed with an oval pouf, which can also stand alone as a pouf, and makes its using even more relaxing.
It is perfect for the living area and for the sleeping area, as well as for outdoor environments.
