Combination of cuisine and design

design da tavola Kitchen and Design: a combination established since when, thanks to the interest of designers and companies, content and container pass the critical scrutiny of those who want the highest perfection in both fields.

And so on the one hand the best chefs in the wake of media fame achieved thanks to advertising and format, undertake the creation of objects that characterize and customize the table at its most, on the other hand designers abandon for a moment the large-scale to devote theirselves to the creation of cutlery, containers, utensils, glasses with unusual materials and shapes.

Design at the table: the achievements of the chefs

On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2014, many companies have rallied over the chefs to create trend lines of tableware and, more generally, for the kitchen, which could attract the audience.

Who better than a chef, in fact, knows full features and methods of presentation of a dish or drink: realization of plates and cups or bowls and cutlery helps to enhance the content and make it attractive not only from the point of view of taste and smell, but also from a visual standpoint.

A company above all, Kartell, has proposed a real event titled Kartell at the table, during which they have celebrated the return to production of tableware characterized by experimentation in used forms and materials.
For this event, the company has called the most resonant names in the world of design and cuisine: Philippe Starck and Jean-Marie Massaud, but also Carlo Cracco, Andrea Berton and Davide Oldani.

design da tavola I.D.Ish Oldani And it is precisely he, the chef who for many years divided his passion of cooking and design of table objects, to sign the I.D.Ish collection: a line of bone white melamine dishes or bronze-colored glasses for water and wine, carafe and a set of cutlery.

These creations are the result of years of observation of clients and staff of his restaurant: I watch the hands of those who bring the dishes from the kitchen to the table, and see that they do everything to keep away from the inside of the pot, but it is also known that the thumb inevitably lean a little over the edge. For how much attention lends itself, there is a point in which the thumb is in contact with the plate. The point is ... what's the point? And that is where this happens - albeit slight - contact.
It is precisely to identify it that I thought of I.D.ish. A plate with a fingerprint in relief. A slight but clear track for those who have to grab the pot.

Design at the table: the achievements of designers

A designer to be defined as such must have a knowledge of proportion of materials, processing techniques, and the size of the relationship between man and object.
Based on this knowledge the achievements of the designers in the culinary industry aim to make available to you a series of functional objects, durable and beautiful to see.
The table in this way becomes a set in which every element tells of a choice, a motivation, characterizing the space and gladdening the meal.

design tavolo circus lancavecchia + wai

Given the results from these assumptions certainly part of the search for the designer Lanzavecchia + Wai that, for the table, realize Circus, a line of sweet bells to hand-blown borosilicate glass.
The extreme simplicity of form and the transparency of the glass are a natural complement to the application, inside or outside of individuals but always in colored glass, which refer to the world of the circus: an elephant in equilibrium, a monkey, a acrobat, etc..
All pieces are handmade Venetian glass artist Massimo Lunardon.

Using traditional materials together with materials that were never meant for the table, it means experience and amaze the audience: there is a successful designer Lara Caffi for KnIndustrie thought of cutting boards made of walnut, steel and porcelain tiles.

cucina e design In-cutting is a project that unites the aforementioned company and Mutina, a leading manufacturer of ceramic wall tiles: these are chopping centerpiece of-two sizes, 79x18, 5 cm or 52x20 cm, consisting of a steel base on which go to fix the handle portion and a walnut and form a porcelain designed by Patricia Urquiola for Mutina.
In this way, the cutting board is not an object by mere and usually use, but a table top, a centerpiece to keep in plain sight.
